Carnation, a perennial herbaceous flower of Caryophyllaceae, native to southern Europe and the Mediterranean coast. With a long history of cultivation, it is one of the world's four cut flowers for the mass cut. The method of keeping fresh flowers is: after the flowers are collected, put in clean water or water containing preservatives. Refrigeration temperatures should be maintained between -0.5°C and 0°C, and relative humidity between 90% and 94%. The carnations taken are insensitive to light and can be either stored in natural light or stored in the dark. However, carnations are sensitive to ethylene. Therefore, flowers should be stored in a preservative containing ethylene inhibitors. Preservation solution composition: 300 ppm 8-hydroxyquinoline + 50 to 100 ppm silver nitrate + 5% to 7% sucrose. The carnations harvested during the bud need to be flowered. The flower-shaped flowering liquid is: 200 ppm 8-hydroxyquinoline citric acid + 25 ppm nitric acid + 50 ppm aluminum sulfate + 10% sucrose. The multifloral flowering solution was: 300 ppm 8-hydroxyquinoline citrate + 300 mg thiabendazole + 10% sucrose. If the flowering liquid is added with gibberellin 10 to 20ms/L or BA5 to 10mgrL or phenylacetic acid 20mg/L+BA5 to 10ms/L, it will accelerate flower opening. When flowering, the stem base should be sheared first, then placed in an environment of 21°C or above, the light intensity should not be less than 1 0.8 thousand lux, and the illumination time should be 6 to 24 hours. Relative humidity is 40% to 70%.
