Host ramie, cassava, fly grass and so on.

The larvae feed on the nicks or holes and feed on young shoots and tender stems. Adults suck juice from citrus and mango fruits.

Morphological characteristics Adult body length 21-23mm, wings 51-54mm, head, chest gray brown. Belly grayish brown. The fore wings are grayish-brown, black on the baseline, exude obliquely to sub-in fold; the insides are double, black-brown, slightly wavy outward; the borders of the kidney pattern are slightly white, with a black spot at the front and back; the middle line is dark brown and wave-shaped. Obliquely to 4 veins, posteriorly curved; outer black, nearly parallel to the midline, with a dark brown inner narrow band; sub-line gray, wavy, end black. The hind wings are dark brown, grayish brown at the base, a wedge-shaped leucorrhea in the middle, and 3 white spots on the outer edge. Egg length 0.7mm, flat spherical, grayish green, miscellaneous gray markings, gradient grayish black. The last instar larvae are 47-57mm in length, the first abdomen is often bent into a ulnar shape, and the eighth abdomen is bulging, resulting in a ridge of the 7th to 9th tummy. The first pair of abdominal feet is extremely small. 2 pairs are slightly smaller, 3-4 pairs well developed; head brown, with 6 yellow and white spots of varying sizes on each side, grey in front, dark vertical lines in center; body color changing, light red to dark red, backline brown The valve is yellow-brown on the line and wide, belly brown; abdominal yellow. The dragonfly is 20-26mm long, with brownish white powder and a pair of short stings on the head.

Living habits Guangdong and Guangxi are born 4 to 5 years old, and spend their winters in the earth or haystacks. Feathering from March to April of the following year, from May to June and September to October, the larvae enter the damaging stage of ramie, the adult worms grow into nocturnal, the phototaxis is very weak, and they are suspended deadly. The adults smoke fruit sap, and many eggs are produced in young leaves. On the back, each female can produce 250-560 eggs. When the young larvae are disturbed, that is, the drooping of the silkworms occurs, the larvae spit and fall into the suspended animation when they are touched.

Prevention and control methods (1) Spray 8% or 0% dichlorvos 1000-1200 times or 90% crystals 800-900 times before spawning peak 2-3 days before larvae and 3rd instars, and leave ramie for one week after spraying. Seed feeding silkworm; seeds with ramie can also be sprayed with 30% acephate EC 10oo times. (2) Trichogramma was released during the hatching period of eggs for biological control, releasing 10,000 heads per 667m2, once every 7-10 days, and continuously placed 2-3 times.
