"New Dongyang" eight-treasure porridge alleged tampering date

In response to the exposure of Shanghai New Dongyang Food Co., Ltd. Nanjing Gaochun Branch, which was suspected of altering the production date of certain foods, the Shanghai Food Safety Joint Conference Office stated on the 6th that it has paid close attention to this matter and organized the regulatory authorities to investigate relevant companies and products.

According to media reports, in the warehouse of New Dongyang Company in Gaochun County, Nanjing, there are hundreds of boxes of preserved eight-treasure porridge labeled as “New Dongyang”, and the production date of some eight-treasure porridge is marked as “2001”. Staff said that the production date of rice pudding can be marked and changed arbitrarily; in addition, some bacon that has been stored for more than five years is also processed and sold to Shanghai's “New Dongyang” Noodle Restaurant.

According to the business registration information of the industrial and commercial sector, Shanghai New Dongyang Food Co., Ltd. was established in 1993. It is initiated by shareholders of Mellow International (Singapore) Co., Ltd., Singapore Jiafeng Group Co., Ltd. and Shanghai Jingting Industrial Co., Ltd., and is a Sino-foreign cooperative enterprise. Its main business scope is the production of meat products, cakes, instant noodles, non-carbonated beverages, canned foods, nutritious snacks, preserved fruit and fried fruit, and sales of self-produced products.
