In the current pharmaceutical industry, Chinese companies only account for 3% to 5% of sales in drug research and development. Most pharmaceutical companies have zero input in drug research and development, which is more than 10% of the annual turnover of multinational giants. Compared with investment, it is insignificant. We can't help but ask: What caused the low input of research and development of Chinese pharmaceutical companies?

First of all, the high profits of generic drugs have led to the unrelenting progress of Chinese pharmaceutical companies in the research and development field. Although imitation drugs occupy the mainstream pharmaceutical market in any country in the world, the high profits of Chinese generic drugs can be regarded as the highest in the world, except for the drugs that have been forced to significantly reduce prices in the list of essential drugs in recent years. All can reach 5 times or more. Many pharmaceutical companies can directly supply goods to the terminal at a retail price of 2%, which is the most favorable evidence. Because the profits of generic drugs are enough to make major pharmaceutical companies earn enough money to squeeze into the "top 100 Chinese pharmaceutical industry," and therefore there is no way to make progress, so that in the field of the original drug Do nothing.

Second, academic hegemonism suppresses the enthusiasm of research and innovation. First, the research and development of medicines is the final say by experts and scholars, but the identification of R&D results is the final decision of the chief of the relevant administrative agency. According to industry sources, even the most advanced medical experts are "students" in front of the Director of the Food and Drug Administration and have never dared to refute or arguing. Otherwise, the academic project led by this expert would not be possible. Secondly, there is now a lack of academic ideas in the “one hundred schools of thought” in the society. In any field of R&D, innovation may be subversive and unconventional, but this “unconventional” may be labeled as “pseudoscience” in an instant. Eternal life must not stand up.

Again, academics failed to integrate with the market. In China, there are not many research institutions or laboratories in pharmaceutical companies, and even if they are, they may not be able to exert energy efficiency and create benefits. However, in the ordinary universities in China, there are many kinds of research institutions and laboratories, but these institutions are empty of academic achievements and cannot be transformed into productive forces. Academic truth cannot be tested in market practice.
