CNN: Stem Cell Therapy Brings Hope to Autistic Patients
CNN Television recently reported a clinical trial of a cord blood stem cell in Rockcliffe, Florida, to alleviate the symptoms and behaviors of children with autism.
Cord blood stem cells are used in the treatment of approximately 80 different diseases, including cancer and blood diseases. Now, a clinical trial report suggests that they may help children with autism recover. Although this is only an experiment, it has caused great concern.
Julian Robertson, a doctor at the Duke University Cell and Transplant Treatment Center, says stem cells in cord blood can alleviate the symptoms and behavior of autism. Gina Gregory, a Florida-born child with autism, is one of 25 children who have been treated for autism at the center. Her own cord blood stem cells are part of Duke University's research.
