Analysis found that plasma-specific acylcarnitine, especially long-chain acylcarnitine, can significantly increase the risk of developing type 6 diabetes for 6 years, and is independent of body mass index (BMI), fasting blood glucose, glycosylated hemoglobin (HbA1c), etc. Know the traditional risk factors.

In addition, receiver operating characteristic curve (ROC) analysis found that if only models established using traditional risk factors (such as age, BMI, fasting blood glucose, HbA1c, family history of diabetes, etc.), the area under the curve (AUC) was only 0.74. . When the specific acylcarnitine was added to the model, the AUC increased significantly to 0.89 (the closer the AUC is to 1, the better the prediction of the model). Therefore, studies have shown that acylcarnitine profiles can significantly increase the efficacy of early prediction of type 2 diabetes.
