The Taizhou Municipal Market Supervision Bureau immediately tested the sample and found that the “burning fat and thinning” and other slimming capsules contained “Sibutramine” and other ingredients that were prohibited by the state.

"Sibutramine", the full name of "Sibutramine Hydrochloride", is a central nervous system inhibitor that can cause cardiovascular disease after consumption. In 2010, the State Food and Drug Administration stopped the production, sale and use of “sibutramine” preparations and raw materials in China.

The value of the case involved reached more than one billion yuan.

On March 13, the police arrested Zhou Mou, Li Mou, Tan Mou, Yan Mou and other suspects who produced toxic and harmful capsules in Guangzhou. On the spot, they seized 5 sets of manufacturing equipment and 1.5 million capsules of toxic and harmful weight loss health products. On the same day, Zhang Moqi and his wife, who illegally sold the raw materials of “Sibu Quming”, were arrested.

Up to now, 21 criminal suspects have been arrested, 4 production and processing dens have been destroyed, 9 sales dens have been operated, 10 manufacturing equipments have been seized, more than 20 kinds of toxic and harmful slimming capsule products have been used, and 15,000 boxes, and semi-finished capsules have 2.838 million. There are 2.85 million capsule shells and 1.3 tons of raw materials such as sibutramine, phenolphthalein and sildenafil. The value of the goods involved is more than one billion yuan.
